Oaxaca is one of the Mexican states with the most cultural diversity and natural beauty. It’s a state with lush valleys, rugged mountains and sun-kissed beaches. As part of our Verbena activities, we include visits to museums, magical towns, artisan workshops, plus culinary experiences like no other. Join us for La Verbena and discover Oaxaca with us!
Oaxaca City teams with cultural diversity, not only because of the great number of indigenous peoples that inhabit the region, but also because of the constant tourist flow. The central part of the capital reverently combines the new and the historic. Our city has museums and galleries on every street corner that portray diverse traditions and beliefs living hand-in-hand. Oaxaca boasts one of the largest collections of graphic arts in all of Latin America: BIAGO (Biblioteca del Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca) as well as, a textile museum, Santo Domingo historical museum and many other shops that specialize in art, local crafts and gastronomy.
Oaxaca is famous for its artisan crafts and the artisans who make them. Alebrijes, black and red pottery, indigenous and contemporary textiles, hand-loomed rugs, unique jewelry, copper and tin work and basketry, as well as, saddlery on the coast.
Oaxaca is known for its great gastronomic variety and bold flavors. Mixed with diverse classic dishes we can find: moles, tlayudas, tamales, tejate, memelas, Oaxacan cheese, cecina, tasajo, pan de muerto, chocolate, seafood, and more. Plus, Oaxaca is one of the states where insects are commonly consumed: grasshoppers, maguey worms and giant ants to name a few. Come taste them all as we guide you from one mouthwatering experience to the next.
